Joseph Ratliff, 85, died Friday, August 29, in Indianapolis, IN. Joe was born in Houston, TX, but lived most of his life in Indianapolis. He served in the Marine Corp in the Philippine Islands, during WWII. After the war, he attended Butler University and graduated in 1948. He worked many years as a salesman, then, as a Municipal Probation Officer before he retired. He moved to Naples, FL, in 1988 where he served as a part-time guard at the Naples Pier. After, becoming ill, he moved back to Indianapolis in 2006. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; sons, Michael, Mark, Joseph III; daughters, Carolyn, Ann, Mary; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Betty Dobkins. A memorial will be held Sunday, September 14, from 1:00 to 2:00 at North Park Church at the Fountains, 500 E. Carmel Dr. His ashes will be scattered in the Gulf of Mexico. Memorial contributions may be sent to North Park Church, 484 E. Carmel Dr, Carmel, IN 46032.

Just to let you know my thoughts and prayers are with you.I remember the first time I met Joe, Saturday morning breakfast. I did not know you guys had moved back. Dont get up north too often. Once and awhile I get to a northside meeting. My husband, Gene passed away in 2005. So Ive been where you are.

Carolyn: I was Joe’s secretary when he retired from Probation; I regretted his leaving but was happy for him and have thought about him from time to time through the years.
