John Poverk, 94, of Westfield, passed away Monday, June 22, 2009. He was born July 4, 1914 in Collinsburg, PA. He was an Electrician at Goldblats in Chicago for over 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant during WW II, receiving a Bronze Star, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 bronze service stars, and the Army Lapel Button. John is survived by his grandchildren, Daniel Ottilie, David Ottilie, Julie (Ottilie) Broyles; great grandchildren, Kali Ottilie, Ben Ottilie, Erica Ramsey, Max Broyles; great great grandchildren, Myles Ottilie, Kyle Ottilie Austin (Ramsey) Doyle, Jordan (Ramsey) Samples, Shelynn (Ramsey) Anderson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mayme (Sibley) Poverk and step-son, J. Fred Ottilie. Graveside Service will be at Marion National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26th, with military honors.
