Our sympathy and prayers go out to John’s family. John was a classmate from Orion High School Class of 73’. Through Facebook he reconnected with some of his classmates and shared his journey with many through his daily blog. Rest in Peace our dear classmate. You will be missed.

My heart goes out to John’s family at this time. He was a very special person who has left a large legacy of laughter and love. May your memories comfort you and make you giggle in the years ahead.

My deepest sympathies for the family during this difficult time. I worked with John and I found out I had breast cancer the same time that John was diagnosed. We shared our fears and philosophy of life and he was an inspiration to me! Let memories bring you peace and smiles.

You know Dad. I know we only did get close over the last few years and stuff but I always took your advice and always took what you told me in consideration. I love you and i will always remember what you taught me.

John was a classmate at Orion, IL. In fact, we were in kindergarten together, which met in the basement of the Lutheran Church. We had a sweet old lady for a teacher. I still have the picture of our class. John always had a kindness to him. And a good sense of humor. We were in the boy scouts together, and went to Camp Loud Thunder (I could still sing the theme song for the camp). We had the world’s best scoutmaster, Dean Johnson. For guys like John and me, Dean was a true mentor. After high school graduation, I did not see John for 10 years. By then John had traveled to over 50 countries in service to the USA. His courage in facing his disease was amazing and inspiring. J Ruskin once wrote, its not what you do with your life that matters as much as who you become. It seems apparent that John had become a courageous man. As long as I knew him, he was a gentle spirit. I am sorry to hear of his passing. We will miss him.

I am truly saddened by John’s early departure. My sympathy and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time. I had the pleasure of working with John supporting the same IT system (Livelink). We were only two people working on system so we developed a good rapport. John was always very friendly and cheerful. He remained in good spirits and was still able to smile and laugh even after he found out about his diagnosis. I am grateful that I was able to take him out for lunch one last time before he left for treatment. John, it was great working with you and I am going to miss you.

I never met him, but he had submitted my resume’ at his employer a while back when I was unemployed and for whatever reason stayed in contact via FB and a little on LinkedIN. He was a good man and God always knew it.
