John R. Koenig, 67, of Indianapolis, IN, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 2, 2012. He leaves behind his loving wife of 44 years, Joni (Charley) Koenig. Born July 21, 1944 in Edwardsport, IN, he was the son of Herman and Anna Mae Koenig. John was a Vietnam Veteran. After 30 years of employment, John retired from Allison Transmission. John was an active member of Castleton Christian Church for 30 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and vacationing with his friends and family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Anna Mae; son, Jason; daughter, Jillian; and daughter, Johnna (Sam) Mishelow; grandchildren, Ian, Devin, Jordan, Jenna, Joelle, and Spencer; brothers, Joe (Virginia) and Jim (Linda); and many loving and supportive friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Koenig. Visitation will be held at Castleton Christian Church on Sunday, July 8, 2012 from 2 to 5 p.m. with services to follow.
