Colonel James R. H. Spears, 85, of Indianapolis, passed away March 14, 2013 he will be missed. He was born in Greenwood, Indiana on November 17, 1927. James graduated from Wabash College in 1950. While working on several Master’s Degrees he met and then married the love of his life, Jane (Swartzel) on June 8, 1956.
After being drafted by the Army for the Korean War, James served for 3 years on active duty and 27 years as reserved service, retiring in 1982. His knowledge of the Civil and Mexican wars was vast.
James is preceded in death by his loving wife Jane. He leaves to cherish his memory children: Nadine (Ed) Penman, Thane (Jennifer) grandchildren: Grant, Sarah, Nicholas, and Stephanie.
There will be a Memorial Service on March 19, 2013 at 6pm with visitation from 4-6pm at Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory, Harry W Moore Chapel at 8151 Allisonville Rd. Arrangements by Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory.
