INDIANAPOLIS – James Norrick Durham, 88, died
December 30, 2010 at his home in Indianapolis.
Mr. Durham was born May 14, 1922 in Tipton
Indiana, the youngest of three children. Mr. Durham
graduated from New Castle High School class of
1940 and worked briefly as tool clerk for Chrysler
Corp of New Castle.
In December of 1942 he enlisted in the United States
Army, serving with the 64th Quartermaster C
ompany, and was stationed at Fairbanks Field,
Alaska, as part of the Asiatic-Pacific theatre of World
War II.
After the war he completed a Mortuary Science
degree, and after several years in the finance
business, retired from the position of funeral
director from the Meeks Mortuary in 1985.
He was an active member of the Elks Club and the
Masonic Lodge of Muncie.
Mr. Durham is survived by his daughter, Jana, of
Muncie; and two sons, Jay and Jeff, both of
Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Tara and Daniel;
and one great-granddaughter, Sophie.
His memorial service will be held Wednesday
January 5, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Tabernacle
Presbyterian Church 418 E. 34th Street Indianapolis.
His family requests that in lieu of flowers donations
are sent to the church.
