Gordon S. Born, the son of Sarah Gay Nichols Born and John Warren Born, was born in Hammond, Indiana on April 26, 1933 and died on May 24, 2012. He grew up in Morocco, Indiana, and attended Purdue University. He became a Registered Pharmacist, and later earned his advanced degrees at Purdue.

He was married to Sue C. Cole on October 5, 1957.

He was employed at Purdue where he served as Major Professor for many MS and PhD candidates and taught courses in Nuclear Pharmacy, Bionucleonics and Civil Engineering. He also served as Chair of the University Radiation Safety Committee, was the Radiation Safety officer and was Head of Radiological and Environmental Management.

He was proud of his involvement with a dedicated group of individuals responsible for Nuclear Pharmacy becoming a federally recognized specialty area of Pharmacy.

During the Vietnam War he served as Detachment Commander of the 395th Evacuation Hospital.

He is survived by his wife Sue S. Cole Born of West Layfayette, IN, a son J. Erick Born of Chicago, IL and a brother Gerald M. Born of Morocco.

Inurnment of Captain Born and his wife will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois, on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. Arrangements: Indiana Funeral Care
