George J. “Poppy� Mulkey passed away Nov. 22, 2011. He was born Aug. 18, 1933 to Delbert and Grace(Huff) Mulkey in Indianapolis, IN. He attended Schools 29 and 45 in elementery school and Tech and Broad Ripple High Schools.
He married Wanda Avant Dec. 29, 1962 in Indianapolis. They had four children; Bunny(Lee) Mulcahy, Janet(Donnie) King, Chuck Mulkey, and Jeannie Mulkey.
George worked for 32 years at Farber Distributing as a route manager and 8 years at Golden Stream Candy Company retiring Nov. 31, 1995. He spent 6 years in the National Guard and was a member of Teamsters Local 716.
George is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren; Tina Lawrence, Jamie(Jessie) Dennis, Jennifer Chladil, Chuck Jr.(Lynn) Mulkey, Chris(Marie) Mulkey, Joey(Ryanne) King, Amy Spearman, John(Kendra) Mulcahy, Stacey(Chad) King, Jessie Mulkey, Alex Mulkey, Jack Mulkey, Olivia Mulkey, Matt(Crystal) Dickerson, and Greg Silvia, great-grandchildren; Tony, Jason, Makayla Grace, Triston, Ethan, Kaden, Mauryanna, William Riley, Alex, Leelan, and David. George also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom all love him very much.
George is predeceased by all his brothers and sisters; Francis Thobabeu, Robert Mulkey, Delbert Mulkey, Mary Norman, Genna Mae Hoover, and Lewis Mulkey.
Visitation will be Monday, November 28 from 3PM – 5PM with services starting at 5PM at Harry W. Moore Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250.
