Donald “Don-Turgent� E. Hadley, of Gas City, passed away at home, on Thursday, February 28, 2013. He was born in Jackson, MI on August 11, 1938 to Budd and Dorothy Hadley. He was in the Army Reserves from 1958-1960. Don was also a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Eagles. He was a resident of Grant County for 17 years. Don “Turgent� enjoyed life. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Don loved farmer’s markets, watching the races and ball games, singing karaoke, bowling, shuffle board, and watching a variety of tv shows. He had a couple of special buddies that he loved like brothers, Hulio and Bobby Gregg. Don was preceded in death by both parents’ his brother, Phillip, and his son, Freddy Hayes. He is survived by his fiancé of 17 years, Loretta Merrill; his children, Sandra (Carl Meelker) Haan, Michael (Sandy) Hadley, Deniese (Greg) Cline, Wanda (TJ VanHorn) Shafer and Debbie (Kenny) Flynn; grandchildren, Amber-Shelby, Nessie, Katey, Whitney, Austin, Nikkie, DJ, Brandy, Mason, Ashley, Ervin, Moe, James, Brandy, Michael, and Joshua; great-grandchildren, Zeek, Aua, Onyx, Aubri, and Peyton; and his brothers, Jerry and David. Don’s favorite passage was Psalm 27: The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is my strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Afena Bank c/o Loretta Merrill. Don’s remains will be laid to rest in Newaygo, MI. Arrangements made by Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory, Indianapolis, IN.
