Donald E. Chance, 93, went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2013 at Riverwalk Village, Noblesville. He was born on August 29, 1919 in Anderson, Indiana. Donald was preceded in death by his parents Ollie and Helen Chance, and his brothers, Kenneth Chance and Robert Chance.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years Evelyn Ruth Chance of Cicero, sister Georgiana Clayton of Phoenix AZ, daughter Patricia Chance of Cicero, sons Ronald E Chance (Jane) of Cicero, Donald J Chance (Marsha) and Michael A Chance (Kip) both of Noblesville, grandsons Matthew Hinshaw, Chad Chance, Brandon Chance, Will Chance, Bill Cook, Greg Cook (Dawn) and Bill McCormick (Jeanette), Granddaughters Shari Benge (Marvin), Jamie Byers (Ben), Jennifer Chance Hampton and Kelli Rice (Darren). Also surviving are 7 great granddaughters and 4 great grandsons.

Mr. Chance served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS McGinty in the Pacific Fleet. A Purdue University graduate, he worked for FHA as chief inspector for the construction of the Army Finance Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison. Mr. Chance became a builder and developer, in partnership with Henry Ostrom with Ostrom and Chance Builders and later founded Chance Construction Corporation, which developed, designed and constructed both commercial and residential projects throughout the state of Indiana.

Mr. Chance was a member of Refuge Christian Church, Noblesville, a founding member of the Noblesville Rotary Club, and a member of the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association – www.alz.org/donate/donation-tribute.asp or P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Refuge Christian Church, 11772 E. 196th Street, Noblesville, Indiana 46060 with visitation prior to the service from 2 – 4 pm.

    Patty and Evelyn, Saw about Don this morning in the Star and then the obituary in the Times. I know this is hard for you, but I know your dad and husband hasn’t been with you for a long time. It almost seems like he waited for Kenny to go and then he was ready. I can’t get over how much he looks like his dad. You and your family have our sympathy. Joe and Patty
