Story Title: Service with a Smile
By: Ellen5e = Ellen Spencer
I have been blessed to get to know Brian over the last four or more years while doing various community service and talking about God’s Word. We used to take a topic and bounce back and forth on what other Bible verse we could recall which was applicable. Then he regularly posted his daily Bible verses on IndyChristian.net. I was impressed that he was so ready to jump into the New Media evangelism by Internet mode with the computer when so many of his contemporaries seemed to be a bit reluctant. Besides the Unleavened Bread Cafe ministries, Brian was also seen in other community Christian areas of service such as Faith Hope and Love, and Christian Community Development Association. He lived the Christian principles that he proclaimed. May God Bless the family with the comfort of knowing about such a rich legacy left by Brian Schwartz for the Glory of God. I will miss our joking around as much as our Biblical discussions and prayer with hope. Longing for The Day, Ellen

We are so sorry for your loss. And, yet, we rejoice that Brian is now walking and leaping and praising the God he has loved and served for so many years. As Pastor Monty said at my father’s funeral, “Today we praise God FOR you; very soon we’ll praise God WITH you.” Much love…Ginny & Tim Spillman “And, jumping up, he got on to his feet and went into the Temple with them, walking and jumping and giving praise to God.” (Acts 3:8 Bible in Basic English)

To the family:
I have known Brian for just a short time, but through my work for the Christian Community Development Association, I had the occasion to know him. Each month, I would drive from my home in Chicago to Indianapolis to meet with 50 or so members of our local Host Team, working to plan a National Conference this fall in Indy. Brian became part of that team about a year ago and would attend those monthly meetings.
Each time we met, afterward, Brian would be waiting for me to have a follow-up conversation. He was unashamed to tell me about parts of my efforts that could be better and to champion the team’s consideration of those with physical disabilities as we planned our meeting locations. He will be missed as a part of our team – I know the children at the conference would have loved to spend time with him.
May you rest each day of this grievous period, knowing that Brian is peacefully at rest with his God.

I was so very shocked when I picked up Sunday’s paper and saw his obituary. Even though I knew what kind of pain Brian was in, he tried so hard to never let on. I was one of the lucky ones to receive his God’s emails everyday. I will greatly miss that. Brian lived what he preached. He was the real deal. I’ve never seen a grandfather so devoted to his grandchildren. There wasn’t anything that he wouldn’t do for his family or his friends. To Geri, Aimee, Jeremy, and their respective families, I know you loved him very much and will miss him greatly. My life is richer for having known him. I will continue to hold up your arms in prayer for the next year. My love and deepest sympathy to all of you.

My heart goes out to the family of Brian Schwartz. I am so sorry for your loss, his death is hard for those that are left here on earth, but know that he loved the Lord and that one day we will see him again. To know that he is with the Lord is a piece of mind that many do not have. Again, I am so sorry for your loss! Love and Prayers to you all! Brinda Willams

One day, out of the blue, God’s word showed up in my in box and I never knew where it came from or anything about Brian. Thanks so much for the daily inspiration and I hope to meet you again someday. With love, John Galloway

Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Schwartz in person, it was always a welcome sight to open my e-mail at work each morning and the first thing I saw was his daily message. May he rest in peace forever while watching over his family from the streets of heaven. God Bless you Brian Schwartz.

Sis. Jerri and family, I wanted to offer you my prayers and sympathy in the passing of your husband and my friend, Bro. Brian. We had a meeting at the church one day, and Bro. Brian had attended. His concern was there was no handicap restroom at the church. Well, we now have one that was sponsored by one of our members. I was looking forward to our next meeting at the church so I could show it to him. Well, that meeting didn’t take place, however I will look forward to meeting and joining him in that “great cloud of witnesses.” Bro. Brian was so humorous, and down to earth. Finally, I would like to leave this familiar passage with you found in Numbers 6:24-26: The Lord bless thee, and keep thee; the Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee; the Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. Amen, and I love you!

Geri and family, we were so sorry to hear of your loss of Brian. He was a great guy! I know God will comfort and bring peace in the upcoming days and weeks. We miss you. What a great day of rejoicing it will be on the other side. This “Hope” is the anchor of our soul!

Jennifer called to tell us she had seen Brian’s notice in the newspaper. She spoke of being at 12 Step with him and what a help he was. I remember how you took care of Elizabeth and Antoinnette at Lakeview Sunday mornings and felt grateful for your doing this. I am so sorry for you all and hope our Lord is carrying you through. He has been such a Comforter for me in times of trial when I can rest in Him. We no longer go to Lakeview but to Whitestone Christian which is 5 minutes from our home at Heritage Lake(Lakeview was 45 minutes). They still have the Discipleship Walks and I remember being at your table and how much love I felt that weekend. May you continually know the Presence and love of Jesus in the days ahead. Love, Eileen
