Betty was such an inspiration to me. She was one of the classiest and loveliest ladies that I have ever known. She was always kind and charming. She always had a smile on her beautiful face. She spoke kindly of others and adored her family. I will miss her so much. When I was president of a ladies guild, Betty was always supportive and helpful and right by my side. I could count on her for everything. Betty was so intelligent. She was pure class. I loved that she would light a candle and have a glass of wine with her dinner at home alone. She had style. I know she is in Heaven with her husband now and it gives me comfort to know she is young again and healthy and living in a better place. I know she is looking down from above on her family and friends and wishing us all well until we meet again.
Love,
Connie Newman

I was one of Betty’s caregivers. I worked for Rachel Bunting. I stayed on Friday nights 9p-9a. She and I talked a lot about the children and and grandchildren. We also discussed her funeral and what I thought about her having a get- together at the Loon Lake Lodge afterwards. She was concerned no one would drive that far. I assured her that people would go anywhere to honor her. My last night with her was Nov. 4th. I also belong to the DAR and I wasn’t aware she was a member. We would drink coffee in the mornings waiting for Charlotte to get there. Your Mother was a very nice lady and I felt as though I knew her all my life.

Betty, Grandmother Shank, will always be in my memories and my wife and son’s memories for a long time to come. I hope she has a big lawn in heaven where one day I can help her mow it for a few of her fresh Indiana-grown tomatoes.
Cindy and Ron Fiske says
We are particularly saddened by the passing of Mrs. Shank because we never had the opportunity to meet her. Her lovely grandaughter, Allison, spoke of her with great affection. Surely those whom she touched during her lifetime were enriched by her company. We sincerely hope that her family is comforted by remembering her smile.

It was my absolute privilege to care for such a wonderful woman. She fought with dignity, strength, and grace. I will always remember her, the tales of her travels, love of bridge, perfect hair, impeccable style, and stories about her children and grandchildren. I will miss her!
