Barbara Ellen Darby, 80, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009. She was born in Los Angeles, CA on November 19, 1928, the daughter of the late Wallace Alan and Minnie Margaret (Harrington) Smith. She was a long time resident of Whittier, CA. She was a member of the embroidery guild, the Audubon society and the Santa Fe Springs Senior Center in Mulberry Park. Barbara enjoyed all kinds of arts and crafts and tried her hand at embroidery, crochet, knitting, sewing, ceramics, drawing, upholstery, woodworking, and painting. Barbara won multiple awards at the Los Angeles County fair for her handiwork. Barbara took many classes at the local community college, expanding her mind and her skills. She enjoyed exploring the mountains, beaches and deserts of southern California, and was a supporter of local PBS television stations, which in later years, let her continue to explore from the comfort of her home.
