Date Of Birth: September 6, 1913
Date Of Death: September 27, 2011

Alice Corey, 98, Indianapolis, departed this life on September 27, 2011. She was born in Elwood, Indiana, on September 6, 1913, to Sam and Mary Corey. Alice graduated at age 15 from Arsenal Technical High School. She worked at Wm. H. Block department store before she married Alexander Corey, her husband of 64 years. In the 1970’s Alice enjoyed visiting Indianapolis newcomers as a Welcome Wagon representative. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. George Orthodox Christian Church. She devoted much of her time to serving the church, and some of the activities for which she will be remembered are singing in the choir, serving as president of the Ladies’ Aid Society and working for many years as a chairperson of the Syrian Smorgasbord Dinner. Alice was an avid card player, a world traveler, a zealous shopper, and an amazing cook, but above all she loved her family with all of her heart. Alice was a wonderful, humble person who truly cared about others more than herself. She has blazed a path for a close, loving family who survives: her daughter, Norma Johns; her son and his wife, Alex Michael and Cathy Corey; her granddaughters and their husbands, Janis and Tony Saliba, and Donna and Brian Dickinson; her six great-grandchildren, Natalie, Nicholas and Sam Saliba, and Claire, Grace and Brian Dickinson; her sister, Ruth George; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Corey, and her son-in-law, Sam Johns. The family would like to thank all who assisted in her care while she lived at The Hearth at Windermere. Family and friends will gather on Thursday, September 29, at Harry W. Moore Funeral Care in Castleton from 4:00–8:30PM, with a Trisagion Service at 7:30PM. Visitation will resume at 10:30AM on Friday, September 30 at St. George Orthodox Christian Church, 4020 N. Sherman Drive, Indianapolis, with the funeral service at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Washington Park East. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. George Ladies’ Aid Society at the address above.
