
John A. Reist – December 11th, 1938 – December 19th, 2014
John Adam Reist, 76, of Anderson, passed December 19th, 2014, at home in his sleep after an extended illness.
He was born December 11th, 1938, in Wildcat Hollow, Virginia, and retired as a decorated soldier from the United States Navy on May 1st, 1976, after 20 years of dedicated service.
John was an extremely loving and devoted husband, a loving brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. John’s family feels so lucky to have had the pleasure of being a part of his life. He loved his family dearly and unconditionally.
John enjoyed fishing, visiting Las Vegas, the riverboat, and traveling.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Hope M. Reist; his brother, James (Jimmy) W. Reist; his parents, Mary Bunch and Jack Bunch; a granddaughter, Amanda Crum; and sister Catherine Hyatt.
He was survived by his children; Danny and wife Brenda Hinkle, Jamie and husband Mark Henderson, Judie and husband Robert Scott, Robbin and husband Benny Naylor, Rose and husband Carl Jones, and Joy and husband Kelly Jones; his grandchildren; Forrest Daniel, Justin, Heather, Scott, Jake, Emily, Randal, Joe, Holly, Rocky, Tasha, Andrea, Adam, Eric, Ryan, Alex, Holden, Josh, Leah, Christy, Tasha Rose, and Jonn. He was also survived by many great grandchildren.
