Olive Rosalyn Avery (Grandma Rosy) passed on June 17 at her home peacefully at the age of 101. She was born on January 30, 1918 to Stella and Earl Garrett joining her sister Jeanette.
She was married to Kermeth Avery June 21, 1941 and they celebrated 61 loving years together. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Olive was a lifetime member of Irvington Presbyterian Church.
Her favorite pastime after Kermeth passed away was spending time with family and playing with the children.
During her life she spent a lot of time with Kermeth dancing, playing cards with good friends, partying, golfing, sometimes fishing. When she was alone her favorite pastime was sewing. She made most of her daughters clothes as they grew up and her last and biggest joy was designing and making her daughters wedding gowns. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and organizing (she never had a messy drawer, cabinet, closet) and always kept a clean home. Her most important thing in life was spending quality time with her family and enjoying a 5 o’clock “Jackiedew”. She was a great listener, never judgmental, adored by all, always had time for others and provided support for all. Her goal in life was to make everyone around her happy.
She is survived by her daughters Susie and Pat; son-in-laws Steve and Steve; grandchildren Dawn, Scott, Christy and Carey; great grandchildren Lucas, Kenzie, Mason, Madison, Shawn, Ellie and Aiden, her nephew Steve Renfro and niece Debbie Herold.
She will always be loved and terribly missed. She was a complete joy to be around and touched every life with which she came in contact. She was amazing in every aspect of life and will never be forgotten.
Services for Olive will be held at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250 on Wednesday, June 26 with visitation starting at 11 a.m. followed by services at 1 p.m.
Burial will be at Washington Park East.
