Margaret R Leavitt, 76, of Pendleton, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018. She was born October 22, 1941, in Carthage, IN, the daughter of Louis and Grace Henderson.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, nine siblings, and one grandson.
She is survived by two brothers, Richard (Heidi) Henderson and Charles Henderson; her son, Christopher Leavitt; her daughter, Jody (Tricia) Loney-Bingham; three grandchildren, Patrick Loney, Mitchell Loney, and Elizabeth Bingham; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret was a 1960 graduate of Carthage High School. She worked at Brookside Corp, Western Electric throughout the 1970’s until the factory closed. She worked for Woods Wire, and the Marsh/Village Pantry Stores for over fifteen years. Margaret also spent many years tending bar at the local Pendleton and Fortville clubs and associations.
Margaret was a Red Cross volunteer, a scout troup leader for both boys and girls, A 35 plus year member of the American Legion Post #117 Auxiliary, and past member of the Amvets Post #26 Axiliary. At Christmas time, Margaret would volunteer her time and skills as part of the local Dress-A-Doll event. She was an accomplished seamstress and an avid bowler, achieving a perfect game more than once. Margaret loved to spend her leisure time throughout her life roller skating, traveling, reading, dancing, and spending time with her grand and great-grand babies.
A memorial service will be held Monday, October 22, 2018 at 11:00 am at Warrington Church of the Nazarene, 8381 N Nashville Rd (IN-109) Wilkinson, IN 46186. With calling from 10 am to service time. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local food pantry.
