Phyllis E. Lane 80, passed away peacefully, January 11, 2018.  Phyllis was born August 26, 1937 to Lilan and Herman Martlage.  She was the youngest of 5 children and grew up in Indianapolis.  Phyllis attended Southport high school where she met and married her husband of 63 years, Mark Lane.

Phyllis and Mark raised their three children in New Whiteland prior to moving to Indianapolis for the last years of their lives.

Phyllis is survived by her brother; Ron Martlage; son, Randall (Joyce) Lane, daughters, Belinda Lay and Tami (Dale) Altenburg; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, Mark and one of their granddaughters, Kristin Lay.

Her family wants Phyllis to be remembered as a strong and tenacious spirit; traits which live on in her children and grandchildren.  Phyllis was a superior, loyal employee spending much of her career as an Executive Assistant at Goodyear Tire for over 25 years.  Her work ethic and dedication to a job well done was a role model for her children.

Phyllis was a loving grandmother who adored her grandchildren and delighted in their accomplishments and activities.  Her favorite moments were attending volleyball and football games to watch them play.  She also enjoyed family dinners, playing Scrabble and cards with her family.  Fishing and camping at Monroe reservoir was another favorite pastime that she greatly enjoyed.  She was an avid fan of Indiana University Basketball (Bobby Knight) and the Indianapolis Colts.  Phyllis enjoyed close relationships with her sister-in-law, Carole Johnson as well as her nieces and nephews who gave her great support in her later years.

The ashes of Phyllis and Mark will be interred at Forest Lawn at a later date by her immediate family with a private service. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the American Cancer Society.
